Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic have we been able to provide the level of help and expertise that now exists. These newer correction methods are even safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As Doctors of Chiropractic, Dr. Jerry and Dr. J.  have had years of training and experience in spinal adjustment.

Corrective Exercises

We teach our patients special "blueprint" exercises designed just for them to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. These exercises can be performed in the comfort of your own home and can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%. In addition to skeletal misalignment, muscles and connective tissues can be out of place or strained by improper alignment and use. Specific exercises and stretches can help your body stay in balance and in health.

Lifestyle Advice

We often find it helpful to "coach" our patients on certain activities they should avoid or do differently to avoid aggravating their particular health challenge. Our goal is to help every patient achieve a fulfilling and happy lifestyle full of the activities they enjoy most. We recognize that each our patient is a whole person, and help them reach true health and wellness is a collaborate effort between our professionals and our patients.

Nutritional Counseling - "Turning Points"

We provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices to enhance our patientīs return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Dr. Jerry and Dr. J can provide a structured nutritional program based on your individual needs.  We also provide a healthy and effective weight loss program to help you reach (and maintain) your ideal weight.

Spinal & Postural Screenings

Posture and spinal screenings can reveal important health information and unlock the door to improved health and well-being. We provide screenings at area malls, community events, health fairs and places of employment. Contact us today to arrange a screening at your event or workplace.

Physiotherapy

To complement and enhance the healing effects of  Dr. Jerry's and Dr. J's specific chiropractic manipulative treatment, we at Pottstown Chiropractic Rehabilitation Center also provide the following physiological therapeutic procedures:

  • Ultrasound - Therapeutic ultrasound is a form of high frequency sound wave which creates a "micro-massage" effect.   The frequency is about one million cycles per second...well beyond the range of human hearing.  This high frequency sound actually vibrates the tissue increasing the blood flow to the injured area and reducing muscle spasms and scar tissue.
  • Electrical muscle stimulation - The basic principle of Electric Muscle Stimulation (EMS) is to introduce low frequency electrical impulses into the body through the use of small electrodes placed directly on the skin.  These tiny electrical impulses stimulate the nerves that carry pain signals to the brain.  This interrupts the brain's perception of pain resulting in pain relief.  In addition to reduction of pain, EMS also helps to increase blood flow through the muscles, decrease swelling and reduce muscle tension.
  • Mechanical traction - The posture pump gradually lifts, stretches and separates the neck and back joints into their proper curved shape.  As the spine is stretched and curved over uniquely angled air cells, compression is removed from the discs and nutrient-rich fluid can now be absorbed.  Restoring the normal curves in the spine will counteract: disc compression & loss of joint lubrication; dry joints from wearing unevenly; vertebra from aging rapidly; painful & stiff joints; and, postural abnormalities, like head forward posture.  To get the best results in a short period of time, the posture pump must be used daily and consistently.
  • Cryotherapy - Cryotherapy is the application of an ice pack to an injured area.  Ice causes the blood vessels to narrow in the injured area, which helps to reduce swelling; it also creates a numbing effect to help relieve pain.  Cryotherapy, in most cases, is the therapy of choice for new or acute injuries.
  • Moist heat therapy - Moist Heat Therapy is the application of a moist heating pad to an injured area.  Heat causes the blood vessels to open wider in the injured area thus increasing blood flow.  Increased circulation through an injured area promotes healing and aids in the removal of toxins from the area; however, heat should never be applied to a new injury since it can increase swelling.  Heat is most often used only after swelling has decreased.  Moist heat is most often used, as opposed to dry heat because of its ability to penetrate deeper into the muscle.
  • Rehabilitation program
  • Intersegmental Traction - The traction table is a roller that rolls up and down the length of the spine.  As it rolls, it opens up all the disc spaces and nerve spaces and relaxes all the muscles, tendons and ligaments.  This therapy can be used prior to an adjustment to help relax the patient so they are easier to adjust or it can be used after the adjustment and rehab to help relax the patient further.  Either way the benefits of intersegmental traction is to help hold the adjustments longer by restoring proper motion to the spine and relaxing the muscles.
  • Diversified Technique - Is a technique in which the doctor uses his or her hands to apply a gentle force to a misaligned vertebrae to realign the vertabrae.  Sometimes a popping/cracking sound can be heard when using this technique which is a release of pressure that is built up in the joint from being misaligned.   This stimulates the bodies release of its natural pain relief hormones.
  • Activator Technique - Is a low force technique using an instrument to move the vertebrae back into alignment.  This technique is great for newborns or patients who do not like or respond well to the diversified technique.
  • CBP / Mirror Image Adjusting Technique - Is used to reach postural correction.  The patient is evaluated to determine if they have lost the normal curves in their spine and if they have extra curves that they shouldn't have.  From this evaluation, specific adjusting positions are used to help restore the spine to its normal structure.  Specific exercises are given to help re-educate and re-train all the muscles, tendons and ligaments to return the spine to the normal position and keep it there.
  • Extremity Adjusting - Shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, ankles and feet, as well as the jaw can all misalign just like the spinal vertebrae causing pain, numbing, tingling or dysfunction.  A number of different techniques can be used to re-align these joints including the diversified and activator techniques.  Exercises, therapies and supports can be used along with the adjustment to heal the injured area more quickly.
